Congressman Frank LoBiondo
Biography Frank is fiscally conservative and a moderate on most social issues. Frank is well known in his district for his easy accessibility and informal, friendly style. His broad appeal bridges all socio-economic groups. Both business and labor groups endorsed him because he is a vigorous advocate for jobs and economic growth in his district. Frank is deeply committed to protecting the environment and works to protect fragile wetlands as well as for projects to restore and protect the New Jersey coast. Frank is also profoundly involved in issues that impact the gaming industry and is founder and member of the Congressional Gaming Caucus. Frank has received many awards for his public service including, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Enterprise Award and the 2000 Pinnacle Award Legislator of the Year from the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. He received the Guardian of Small Business from the National Federation of Independent Business, Super Friend of Seniors by the 60 Plus Association and the Humane Legislator of the Year by the American Humane Society. Prior to his election to Congress in 1994, Frank served seven years in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1988 -1994 representing the First Legislative District. Congressman LoBiondo served one three-year term on the Cumberland County Board of Chosen Freeholders from1985 to 1987 prior to being elected to the New Jersey General Assembly. Frank, 60, received a B.A. in Business Administration from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. In addition to his work in public service, Frank has had a successful career as a small businessman, working 26 years at his family owned and operated trucking company. Frank and his wife Tina live in Atlantic County. The Second Congressional District of New Jersey includes all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem Counties and part of Camden, Gloucester and Burlington Counties. |
